Authorised Economic Operator (AEO)

Almost all businesses involved in international trade will already have some awareness of AEO, but very few have done anything about it, simply because the “benefits” are not obvious yet.  This is changing, to the extent that businesses will need to at least meet the requirements of AEO as a precondition for operation of any of the customs simplifications, reliefs or suspension regimes.  The alternative will be a requirement for an expensive guarantee.  As the process for AEO authorisation takes some time, the best organised businesses are now making their plans for AEO applications, to avoid the inevitable bottleneck which will face those who wait until the last minute, then find they can no longer renew their authorisation for duty relief.

There is something of a mystique that AEO requires significant effort in developing new processes.  In our experience, however, the reality is that most businesses already have sufficient processes to meet the requirements of AEO – they just need to be documented and validated.

We are already helping several clients to obtain full AEO authorisation – perhaps we can help you?  Give us a call or
book a consultation meeting to find out more.
